Variable weekend forecast has rain, wind, sunshine
The weekend weather will be windy, rainy, chilly with some welcome sunshine on Sunday.
The mixed bag forecast comes from the National Weather Service.
“A period of stormy weather can be expected through Saturday as a slow moving system tracks though the area,” the NWS says.
“Showers and a few thunderstorms can be expected Friday ahead of the main front. South flow will keep temperatures about 5 to 10 degrees above average. The front will produce locally heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms tonight as it tracks slowly through the region. As the front exits Saturday, west winds will significantly increase, with gusts in excess of 50 mph possible. Temperatures will remain steady or gradually fall during the day as colder air filters in.”
The biggest concern is strong winds on Saturday that could bring down trees and branches and lots and lots of leaves.
All of Connecticut has a High Wind Watch from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday. Wind will blow from the west between 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
