CT towns that got the most rain, strongest winds

With more than 3 inches of rainfall Monday, many Connecticut communities received their heaviest precipitation in months.

Danbury received 2.26 inches — the most rain since July 11 when 2.40 inches was recorded.

The northwest corner of Connecticut had the highest rainfall totals with Goshen topping the chart with 3.13 inches.

Northern Fairfield and Windham counties each had more than 2.50 inches of rain. Lowest rainfall totals were along the shoreline with about an inch.

Despite the deluge, many towns in Connecticut still remain below average with year-to-date rainfall.

Rainfall deficits include Willimantic with minus 10.9 inches; New Haven with minus 10.78 inches; Windsor Locks with minus 8.14 inches and Danbury with minus 7.08 inches.

Bridgeport remains one of the few areas in the state that has had near normal precipitation with just 0.69 of an inch below average.

Monday’s soaking rain was driven by strong wind. The highest wind gust of 63 mph was clocked in Stamford.

More rain is possible this weekend if a coastal storm develops, the National Weather Service says.
