Big East Media Day will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28. It will be held virtually, not at Madison Square Garden per usual, but it is further proof that there is a Big East season looming — and that UConn is, indeed, back in the league.

Who better as a guest to help kick off our first Hearst Connecticut Media UConn men’s basketball podcast of the season than Kevin McNamara, who literally wrote the book on the Big East (“Basketball Warfare: Life in the Big East Conference.”)

There are few writers more qualified to talk all things Big East than McNamara. A Rhode Island native who attended Syracuse University, McNamara covered the Big East (in general) and Providence College men’s basketball (specifically) for the past 31 years at the Providence Journal. He has recently launched his own website, kevinmcsports.com.

In our podcast, we get McNamara’s opinion on how the Big East will shake out this season, how good he thinks UConn will be, his thoughts on Dan Hurley (who McNamara got to know well while Hurley coached at URI from 2012-18), whether or not PC-UConn can become a sizzling, border-war rivalry and other insightful takes.
