Looking to have the most fall day?

Head over the state border to North Salem, NY where all your fall needs will be met within a few-mile radius.

The Danbury area has some fall-friendly spots like Blue Jay Orchards for pumpkin and apple picking (and the best apple cider doughnuts around), as well as some fall foliage hikes and walks.

But if you want to kick it up a notch, North Salem is only about 20 minutes away from the Danbury town line, and it's a bucolic fall extravaganza. You'll drive down country roads with beautiful (million-dollar) farmhouses and Victorians, horse farms and quaint little eateries.

It's also right of Metro-North, so you can host your city friends and show them what autumn is all about.

From apples and pumpkins to goats and Instagram-worthy hiking vistas, click through the slideshow above for your guide to a perfect fall day in North Salem.
