After taking a 3-0 lead after one period, the Staples-Weston-Shelton co-op boys hockey team lost 7-6 to Westhill at Milford Ice Pavilion on Saturday, its home rink.

Weston outscored Staples, 4-2 in the second period, and 3-1 in the third period, to earn a comeback win and raise its record to 2-8-1. Staples dropped to 6-4.

Senior captain Forrest Savage led the Wreckers with three goals. Junior Zach Speed had two goals and sophomore Sean Stewart scored Staples' other goal.

Leading the Wreckers in assist was junior Liam O'Leary with two. Speed, Stewart, sophomores Eric Zurmuehle and Owen Engeldrum and freshman Jack Mendillo each had an assist for Staples.
