Trojan cagers fall short against feisty Stratford
The Weston boys basketball team lost 49-38 at Stratford Tuesday.
Stratford raised its record to 9-7. Weston dropped to 8-8.
"We matched up well to them," Trojans coach Mike Hvizdo said. "They had a few guys out and we had the size advantage, but we couldn't make a shot."
"It was the one night we couldn't make baskets," Hvizdo said. "You can't win if you score [only] 38 points."
Michell had 13 rebounds and three blocked shots. Molinsky led the Trojans in assists and blocks with five each.
"Lyle played a good game and I couldn't ask for anything more," Hvizdo said. "Max played well but we need him to score more -- he only scored about half of his usual average [of 14 points]."
The Red Devils were led by Kinshawn Pettway (11 points). Weston limited Stratford's leading scorer Bernard Brantley, to seven points. "We played great defense. Hvizdo said. "I have no complaints about that."
