The Staples girls tennis team ended its season in impressive fashion, defeating Greenwich 5-2 on Monday and earning its first FCIAC Western Division crown since 1990. The Wreckers, who finished the regular season 15-2, will host an FCIAC quarterfinal on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

Staples won three of four singles matches Monday. At No. 1 singles, Staples senior Melissa Beretta defeated Anna Daccache 6-2, 6-0. No. 3 Julia Bartimer won 6-0, 6-0 against Maggie Glynn and No. 4 Gabi Titlebaum beat Camila Akerman 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles, Staples' No. 2Avery Wallace and Tess Rubin took down Lena Schipper and Riley Sheets 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. The Wreckers No. 3 team of Rachel Lieberman and Sarah Rountree defeated Isabelle Janssen and Maitlyn Murphy 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
