The Saugatuck Rowing Club Juniors had success on the Charles River at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Oct. 20-21.

Ten Staples High students took part in the 48th annual event, which featured over 9,000 athletes competing in 60 events.

Louisa Freeman of Staples and Jo Gurman of Weston took home the Silver Medal in the Youth Women's Double event. Connor Cashel (Weston) and Mary Beth Greer (Wilton) placed third out of 39 entries in that event. Anna Petterson (Staples) and Natalie Clark (Witon) were sixth.

Christina Johnson (Redding) placed second out of 42 entries in the Junior Club Women's Singles race.

Saugatuck's crew of Jeff Monahan (Staples) and Cameron Yates (Fairfield Ludlowe) placed fifth out of 44 entries in the Youth Men's Doubles.

The Youth Men's Eight team, which included Warren Schorr, John Hunter, Christoph Bub and Chris Fincher of Staples, and Lee Glicklich of Greens Farms Academy, finished 17th out of 85 entries. Witt Geffs (Fairfield Prep), Lauren Hochman (Fairfield Warde), Connor O'Brien and Nicholas Upton (Joel Barlow) also were on the team.

Saugatuck's Youth Women's Eights team placed 11th out of 85 entries. That team included Blythe Lewis and Reni Forer of Staples, Allie Diamond and Katie Grotto of Weston, and Genevieve Esse of GFA, as well as Felicity Cain (Darien), Lilly Powers (Fairfield), Emily Patton (Hopkins) and Kaitlyn McCann (Ridgefield).

The Youth Women's Fours team was 81st and included Alex Manning of Staples and Emily Clayton of Weston, along with Victoria Thorogood (Wilton), Joanna Moley (Darien) and Erika Zadravec (Fairfield).
