Ogden's two goals lead WestConn women's soccer team to victory

DANBURY -- Sophomore Katherine Ogden of Stamford scored two goals in the first half to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team to a 6-1 victory over WPI on Thursday night.

Ogden, who last played collegiate soccer at Manhattan College, put the Colonials up with in the 29th and 39th minute and the Colonials took a 2-0 lead into intermission.

Shortly after the second stanza began, graduate student Nicole Sieber of Newtown, a former Immaculate High star, added her second goal of the season to put WestConn ahead 3-0. She assisted on two other markers for the winners.

Lauren Matthews, Tracy Sales and Jessica Zingle each added a goal for the Colonials. Sales and Zingle lead the team with three goals apiece so far this season. Caitlin Avery earned the win in net for WestConn without having to make a save. Amanda Simon made one save after relieving Avery in the 64th minute.

WestConn travels to Wheaton College (Mass.) for a non-conference game on Saturday at 3 p.m.
