New York man wins eighth Road Runners Series race
Last Saturday, Art Gunther of Nyack, New York won the eighth Road Runners race as he lead another record field of 150 runners in an 8.4 mile run that started and finished at Burying Hill Beach. Gunther won the race with a time of 47:29.
The first woman to finish Saturday was Mary Zengo, of Wilton, in ninth place overall with a time of 54:53.
Second and third places in the men's division were awarded to Ridgefield's James Osborn (48:01) and Westport's Luke McCambley (48:21). Second and third places in the women's division were awarded to Kristen Curran, of Fairfield, in 12th place and Meredith Anand, of Easton, in 14th place with the respective times of 55:53 and 57:18. Other Westport-Weston residents who finished in the top 10 were Reese Kennedy, seventh in 53:48, and David Allen, 10th in 55:09.
The next scheduled Road Runners race will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 8:00 AM with a 9.3 mile race starting at Compo Beach. The next scheduled Road Runners race will be held on Saturday, August 9th with a 6.85 mile race starting at Compo Beach.
