WESTPORT -- In a performance highlighted by extraordinary ball striking and superior putting, Ryan Burke won the 53rd Longshore Club Championship in a 36-hole match over Phil Corbo.

Burke, who posted scores of 65, 66 and 64 (16 birdies, two eagles) in the August tournament, closed out the defending champion Corbo after moving eight up with seven holes to play.

A champion for the second time, Burke consistently hit his greens in regulation and moved six up through the first 18 holes, before closing out the match on the 29th hole.

Corbo reached the finals by defeating Cody Schwartz 2 and 1 in the semifinals following wins over Matt Haynes in the first round (4 and 3) and Brett Denkin (2 up) in the quarterfinals.

In the first Flight Championship, Mark Oberlander topped Fred Hunter on the 17th hole for the win. Oberlander's road to the title included a win over Chris Pappas (3 and 2) in the first round, Brett Biedermann (5 and 4) in the quarterfinals and Joe Bottone (5 up) in the semifinals.

In the second Flight Championship, Mike Dawson defeated Don Renzulli 3 and 2 for the win. Dawson topped Ed Ripp in the first round (3 and 1), Frank Bottone in the quarterfinals (6 and 4) and Larry Lieberman (3 up) in the semifinals.
