Gregory Bisconti of The Saint Andrew's Golf Club is atop the leaderboard following the first round of the 98th Met Open Championship after shooting a 3-under-par 68 at Old Westbury (N.Y.) Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.

Mark Brown (Tam O'Shanter Club), John Stoltz (Concord Monster Golf Club) and Ryan Snouffer (Panther Valley Golf & Country Club) each carded a 1-under-par 70.

Kevin Ausserlechner of Country Club of Darien shot an even-par 71, while Cameron Wilson of Shorehaven Golf Club posted a 1-over-72. Greenwich native David Pastore of Griffith E. Harris carded a 4-over 75, as did Jerry Courville of Shorehaven Golf Club. Stamford native Jason Caron, who plays out of Siwanoy Club, shot a 75, while Danny Balin (Burning Tree Country Club), Shaun Powers (Fairview Country Club), Ryan Kalista (Innis Arden), Tommy McDonagh (Shorehaven) and Garrett Murphy each carded a 76.

Brothers Mike Ballo Jr. and Peter Ballo each shot a 77.

Connecticut Mid-Amateur Championship

Ben Hunter of Sterling Farms Golf Course is in the lead at 3-under-par 69 after the opening round of the 28th Connecticut Mid-Amateur Championship Tuesday at Fairview Farm Golf Course in Harwinton.

Hunter recorded six birdies, three of which came on his first six holes. Paul Schaeffer of Rockledge Country Club made an eagle on the 18th hole to jump into a tie for second at 2-under-par 70. Wednesday's action includes 18 holes in the morning and 18 in the afternoon.
