WESTPORT — The homeowners of the stunning gated waterfront estate at 5 Judy Point Lane do not take for granted the privilege of living on Connecticut’s Gold Coast. So attuned to the needs of others are these homeowners that they and their realtor have reached out to a local charity to create a special event that will benefit both in different ways.

The private residence, which enjoys 275 feet of coastline, a private beach, and deep water dock on Burritt Cove, is currently on the market. Rather than hosting a public open house the owners have scheduled a ticketed event on April 30th from 1-4 pm that will serve as a fundraiser for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. The camp was founded by the late Paul Newman, Academy Award-winning actor and long-time Westport resident, and it provides “a different king of healing” for seriously ill children and their families.

Enjoy an afternoon at this landmark waterfront estate, which has spectacular views of the cove where the Saugatuck River and Long Island Sound meet. Ticket holders will tour the house and enjoy live music by two-time cancer survivor and singer-songwriter Charlie Scopoletti. Food is provided, in part, by Mario Batali’s Tarry Lodge and the wine by Kathie Lee Gifford’s GIFFT Wines and Scheid Vineyards.

To participate in this extraordinary afternoon requires a minimum donation of $50, and organizers said 100 percent of the proceeds from this event will go to Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. According to the charity’s website, “The Camp delivers fun, friendship and a healthy dose of mischief through its signature summer program and weekend sessions at the Camp facility in Ashford (Connecticut) as well as outreach to hospitals, clinics and communities across the Northeast. All services are free of charge.”

This is a property worth seeing, with the added benefit of helping a great cause. Everything about it is elevated to another level starting at the stone wall perimeter, entrance gate, and forecourt. A honed granite path with a wide swath of bluestone leads to the covered front entrance of this stone and natural wood-colored shingle-style colonial, which was built in 2003. The ornate French doors with decorative wrought iron detailing on the oblong window panes open to the true front-to-back center hall. This dramatic two-story space has limestone flooring, a marble fireplace, gracefully curved staircase, and a full service bar with a wine refrigerator.

Because of its location along the water this house and its 1.22-acre level property were designed for indoor-outdoor living. Many of the first floor rooms, which are generous in size, have French doors to granite patios. Rooms on the second floor have French doors to balconies.

With its 12,568 square feet of living space this house holds many special features, too many to list. Among the highlights are its cherry wood floors, sophisticated crown molding and other millwork, and 11-foot ceilings. The house contains a conference room next to the library, a wood-paneled elevator that accesses all three floors, banquet-sized formal dining room, five gas-fueled fireplaces, and two wet bars. All seven of the home’s full baths are unique with custom tile and vanities.
