Stamford Police: Eight-month-old in car with drunk driver, passenger
STAMFORD — Two intoxicated Stamford women were charged with drunk driving with an eight-month-old baby in the car, police said.
Capt. Diedrich Hohn pulled the women over on Richmond Hill Avenue Thursday.
The women had a large amount of beer and vodka in the car, and some of the containers were opened, police said. The women allegedly said they were drinking at the beach with the eight-month-old child with them.
The driver, Juana Petz-Aviles, attempted to comply with the breathalyzer but she was too intoxicated, police said, and was unable to do it after five attempts.
Petz-Aviles, 35, of Taylor Street, was charged with driving under the influence with a child, drinking while driving, reckless endangerment, and failure to maintain a proper lane. Her bond was set at $5,000.
Police said Magda Corado- Najarro, the mother of the child, was “highly intoxicated” and knowingly put the child in a vehicle driven by an intoxicated person.
Corado- Najarro, 37, of Rose Park Avenue, was charged with risk of injury, reckless endangerment and interfering with officers. Her bond was set at $2,500.
Police transported the child to her father.
