STAMFORD — A record 699 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs were collected from the public at the department’s drug drop-off event on Saturday, Oct. 24, Stamford police Capt., Richard Conklin said.

The drugs were collected from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a drive-thru set up at police headquarters on Bedford Street, he said.

The department partnered with the Regional Behavioral Health Action Organization’s The Hub and Liberation Programs to collect the unwanted drugs so they won’t fall into the wrong hands. The drugs can now also be disposed of properly.
