Person ‘unresponsive’ after fall from Bridgeport parking garage
BRIDGEPORT — An individual was found unresponsive in a dumpster after falling off the parking garage on Fairfield Avenue, city officials said Tuesday.
At 8:50 a.m., Bridgeport fire units responded for a report of a fall from elevation from the Fairfield Avenue parking garage, according to Scott Appleby, the city’s director of emergency communications and emergency management.
He said the first arriving firefighters met with police officers who were already on scene and had found the individual “in an adjacent dumpster.” Appleby said firefighters found the patient “unresponsive, not breathing and without a pulse.”
“Rapid removal from the dumpster was performed by FD on a backboard, utilizing the side door of the dumpster,” Appleby said.
Medics took over care of the individual, with the help of two firefighters that continued working on the person while en route to St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
There was no further information immediately available. An update on the individual’s condition has not yet been provided.
