Easton PD: 12 guns seized from home of sexual assault suspect
EASTON — Investigators seized 12 guns at the town home of a man they charged Friday in connection with a sexual assault case, according to police.
Robert McGuire, 40, was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of illegal sexual contact and risk of injury to a minor.
The investigation began July 1 after getting a call from Yale New Haven Hospital personnel about two juveniles admitted to the hospital with “signs of sexual abuse and trauma,” police said.
Investigators interviewed the victims on July 9.
Based on the information police got during those interviews, investigators got an arrest and search warrant for McGuire and his home.
Easton police and members of the Technical Investigation Unit went to McGuire’s Adams Road home on Friday to execute the warrants.
“A search of the residence was conducted, and a large amount of evidence was recovered, along with 12 firearms and a large amount of ammunition,” police said.
The Technical Investigation Unit continues to examine the evidence, police said. Investigators from Darien, Weston, Westport and Wilton aided in the investigation.
McGuire was taken into custody and held on a $500,000 bond. He is expected in court on Monday.
