BRIDGEPORT -- A babysitter who took a 2-year-old girl to a late-night pool party and set off a statewide Silver Alert was arrested Sunday on a child-endangerment charge and held on $20,000 bond.

The child was returned to her mother unharmed after 20-year-old Samya Quinones, also known as Samya Johnson, drove the girl to a Stratford hotel without the mother's permission, police said.

The mother, who had dropped off the baby Saturday afternoon, called police early Sunday after she went to the babysitter's home following work, but Quinones did not answer her phone.

After an hours-long investigation and the Silver Alert issuance, city police learned Quinones had been looking after the girl at the pool party.

The mother's name and address, as well as Quinones' address, were not available Sunday night.
