An 8-foot-tall menorah will be lit during a free, outdoor Hanukkah party on Monday evening, Dec. 2, at the Compo Acres Shopping Center.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the shopping center, corner of Post Road East and Compo Road South, and is sponsored by the Schneerson Center for Jewish Life, CT.

Sponsors said the party would include live music, plus free latkes, gelt and dreidels.

For the party -- on the sixth night of Hanukkah -- the towering aluminum menorah will be illuminated by burning oil.

For the remainder of the holiday, it will be illuminated by electric light bulbs.
