Two men died from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds Wednesday night at a home in southeast Houston.

The shootings happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Almeda-Genoa near Donegal Way, said Victor Senties, a spokesman for the Houston Police Department.

Senties said police officers along with personnel with the Houston Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. When they arrived, the found a man lying on the ground in front of the residence. He had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his head. He died at the scene.

Soon after the officers and HFD personnel arrived and before a perimeter could be secured at the scene, they heard a gunshot from inside, Senties said. Inside, they found a man lying on the floor. He had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and died at the scene.

Senties said it was unclear if the man who died in the trailer had arrived after the officers or if he had been in the trailer when the officers arrived to investigate the initial shooting death.

Other media reports indicate the men were brothers, but Senties said police could not confirm those reports because the men have not been officially identified.
