A police officer was injured in a traffic crash Friday morning on U.S. 59 in northeast Houston.

The crash occurred about 11:30 a.m. on the inbound Eastex Freeway near the Sam Houston Parkway, according to Houston Transtar.

Few details were available. But the officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, according to the Houston Police Department.

Transtar officials said it appears the officer's squad car, as well as a big-rig and a motorcycle may be involved in the wreck.

The officer is now listed in fair condition at the Memorial Hermann trauma unit in the Medical Center according to hospital spokesperson Kathryn Klein.
