The Connecticut Alliance for Music will conduct the 25th annual Leon Tec Showcase for Outstanding Young Musicians 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plains Road.

This year's players for the free concert are Westport violinist Gwendolyn Howard, 14, a freshman at New Haven's Hopkins School; pianist Christine Xu, 15, a junior at Weston High School; and cellist David Toto, 17, a senior at Ridgefield High School.

The annual event, founded in 1987 by Westport psychiatrist Leon Tec, aims to offer high-school musicians the opportunity to perform professionally, coached by a musician and the event's artistic director.

The musical program will consist of "Piano Trio in D Minor" by Arensky and a medley of themes from classic movies, including "Por Una Cabeza," which was featured in the tango scene in "Scent of a Woman" and Astor Pizazzoli's composition from the film "Oblivion."
