That dandy tradition of Westport's springtime, the Yankee Doodle Fair, is set for the grounds of the Westport Woman's Club, 44 Imperial Ave., from Thursday, June 13, through Sunday, June 16.

The Yankee Doodle Fair will again feature carnival rides and games from Stewart Amusements, including a Ferris wheel, Flying Dumbo, bumper and kiddie cars, basketball toss, rope ladders, carousel, and the Ali Baba and Zero Gravity rides.

Face painting and sand art will be offered for younger children .

The club's Gourmet Group will sell baked goods in the auditorium, along with coffee and cold drinks. Vendors will be selling a range of wares and the Yankee Doodle Fair cookbook will be on sale for $5.

Raffle and "Lucky Prize" drawing tickets will be sold throughout the fair, and at 5 p.m. Sunday the winning tickets will be selected. (Ticket-holders do not have to be on hand to win.) The raffle grand prize is $1,500, second prize is a cocktail ring from Lux, Bond and Green valued at $340 and third prize is six tickets worth up to $300 at Westport Country Playhouse for the performances of the winner's choice.

Mary Lee Clayton, the club president, said in a news release, "For 106 years, the Westport Woman's Club has been raising funds for local needs. We started by building sidewalks on Main Street, brought about the development of Compo Beach and created hot meals and health care for our schools.

"The fair is our largest fundraiser. Its proceeds go to support our grants to community organizations, the scholarship program for Staples students and our much-needed Food Closet."

Yankee Doodle Fair hours are Thursday, June 13, 6 to 10 p.m.; Friday, June 14, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, June 15, 1 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, June 16, 1 to 5 p.m. There are $25 unlimited rides wristbands available all Thursday night, Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., and all Sunday afternoon.
