The Yankee Doodle Fair, a favorite Father’s Day weekend tradition in Westport, spins into action June 18-21 on the grounds of the Westport Woman’s Club, 44 Imperial Ave.

The fair runs Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m.; Friday, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 1 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.

The Yankee Doodle Fair, as usual, will feature carnival rides and games, but this year the Expo Wheel is replacing the Ferris Wheel. Other rides include Dizzy Dragon, Bumper Cars, Cobra Coaster, Tornado, Scrambler, Cliff Hanger, Super Slide, Whacky Shack Fun House, Merrya Go Round and Rip Cord. An updated version of the Ali Baba ride, named Rock Star, and Zero Gravity are among the other rides. Features for the younger set include rides like Quad Runner, Jumping Jumbos, Dinos and Frog Hopper.

Unlimited ride wristbands will be available all the days of the fair.

The Westport Woman’s Club face paintings feature fun or fierce designs, and there will be sand art for younger children and a new children’s garden with “Twinkle Little Star” photos available.

There also will be a Fountain of Wishes for free-will donations to the club’s need-based Staples Scholarship Fund.

“Pop-up” events during the fair include Suzuki School violinists performing at 4 p.m. Saturday, visits by the Sound Tigers hockey mascot and demonstrations by the Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation techniques Saturday and Sunday.

There will be a food court featuring a range of cuisine, as well as a baked goods sale, coffee and cold drinks.

Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the fair, as well as for the “Take a Chance” drawing; both, featuring a range of prizes, will be selected Sunday afternoon.
