A music critic will discuss the score of Verdi's opera "Macbeth" during a meeting of the Y's Women on Monday morning, Nov. 25, at the Unitarian Church in Westport.

Arden Anderson-Broecking will discuss what the Y's Women called the "dark and dramatic" score of Verdi's 1847 opera, which was based on the Shakespeare tragedy.

Coffee and conversation are planned at 10:45 a.m. and the speaker is scheduled at 11:30.

Anderson-Broecking is a graduate of the New England Conservatory in Boston and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York. She sang Gilbert & Sullivan operettas for an off-Broadway touring company, performed abroad and has directed operas, the Y's Women said.

The Y's Women's meetings are closed to the public, the group said, but new members may be enrolled at meetings.
