A Stamford woman was charged after police said she was observed driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning.

Theresa Lionetti, 59, of Brodwood Drive in Stamford, was charged with operating under the influence and reckless operation of a motor vehicle in the 12:35 a.m. incident.

Lionetti was stopped after officers on patrol observed her vehicle traveling in "excess of 100 miles per hour" and that she was driving "erratically" on I-95 between Exits 19 and 18 southbound, according to the report.

"Upon stopping the vehicle officers immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her. She was administered and failed roadside sobriety tests and was placed under arrest," the report states.

Lionetti posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear March 17 in Norwalk Superior Court.
