Woman charged with shoplifting groceries
A Bridgeport woman faces larceny charges for an incident at Super Stop & Shop on Post Road East in July.
Verna Annicelli, 49, of Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged last Tuesday with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.
Annicelli was arrested on a warrant issued for an incident at the supermarket July 3 where, police said, she concealed $220.86 worth of groceries in a shopping bag. She then left the store without paying, according to a police report. Police later determined that Annicelli was responsible for the theft and applied for the arrest warrant.
Officers went to the Bridgeport Police Department where Annicelli was being detained pending the charges filed by Westport police.
