A Westport resident who graduated last month from Fairfield University and two partners captured second place in a business-plan competition with their development of a mobile application that selects recommended restaurants.

Alex Lebow and his partners, who dubbed themselves Team Tasteful, shared a $2,000 prize in the competition organized by the university's Dolan School of Business, the university said in a news release.

They developed a discovery platform, website, and mobile application that sifts through and collects what the university called "trustworthy" recommendations of restaurants.

Lebow and his partners, Brendan Carr of Langhorne, Pa., and Brendan O'Brien of Colts Neck, N.J., hope luxury hotels will partner with their website so concierges can recommend restaurants for visiting tourists and business professionals, the university said.

A total of 17 business plans were entered in the contest. The winner was a web-based financial trading platform game, and the first-place prize was $10,000, the university said.
