Westporter heads child advocates' board

Elaine Harris of Westport has been named president of the board of directors of Child Advocates of Connecticut, the organization announced.The nonprofit organization supports children in juvenile-protection proceedings to secure a safe, permanent and nurturing home. It recruits and trains community volunteers to be appointed by the courts as guardian ad litems, or legal advocates.
Harris joined the advocates' group two years ago when she received guardian ad litem status, the organization said.
Her professional career included more than 15 years in the investment-management business.
