Westport weather: warm today, blustery tomorrow
A spring-like day is in today's forecast for southwestern Connecticut, with sunny skies and the high temperature cresting near 60 degrees.
Tomorrow, however, will not only be colder, but very windy with occasional gusts as high as 60 mph, according to a "hazardous weather outlook" issued by the National Weather Service for the region.
Winds today will be calm, registering between 7 and 14 mph and temperatures will rise to the mid- to high-50s. Tonight will be breezy with a west wind between 14 and 24 mph. The low temperature will fall to about the freezing mark.
Even though tomorrow will be mostly sunny, the NWS says, the temperature will rise only to about 38 degrees.
A northwest wind between 25 and 34 mph will bluster across the region, with gusts as high as 49 to 60 mph.
Saturday night will have a low of 21 degrees. Blustery conditions will continue, with a wind from the northwest at between 23 and 25 mph, and gusts as high as 43 mph.
Sunday will be sunny, warmer and not as windy, according to the forecast. The high temperature will be about 40 and a northwest wind will be between 13 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
There is a chance of light snow and rain before midnight Sunday as temperatures fall to around 34. New precipitation will be only about one-tenth to one-quarter inch, according to the weather service.
On Monday, the President's Day holiday, there is a 50 percent chance of rain. The daytime high temperature is likely to be about 40 degrees.
