Westport weather: Watch out for winds

A day after a surprise winter storm dusted southwestern Connecticut with light snow and sleet, the National Weather Service warns that wind gusts at gale force could buffet the region.
In a "hazardous weather outlook" in effect through 6 p.m. today, the warns a west wind is expected to register between 28 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph throughout that period.
Meanwhile, skies are expected to be mostly sunny, with a daytime high temperature rising to the mid-40s.
Tonight, however, should be mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradually clearing, with a low temperature around 24 degrees. Windy conditions may continue, with a west wind between 16 and 23 mph, and occasional gusts up to 40 mph.
Tomorrow should be sunny, the NWS says, with a high temperature in the mid-40s. Winds will be calmer, from the northwest at between 11 and 16 mph. Tomorrow night should be mostly clear, with a low around 31 degrees.
Monday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 52 degrees. Nighttime should be partly cloudy, with a low around 34 degrees.
On Tuesday, the weather service predicts mostly sunny skies, with a high near 50 degrees.
