Rain -- changing to snow -- is in the "hazardous weather outlook" issued today for southwestern Connecticut by the National Weather Service.
The rain is expected to start falling across the region early this afternoon, as the daytime high temperature reaches about 41 degrees. There will be an east wind between 3 and 11 mph. New rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch are possible, the NWS says.
Precipitation continues tonight, changing about 11 p.m. to a mix of rain and snow. The temperatures will fall to about 34 degrees and the east wind will pick up to between 15 and 24 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. The snow accumulation should be less than one-half inch, the weather service says.
The snow/rain mix is expected to continue tomorrow morning, changing to all rain after 2 p.m. The high temperature will be about 41 degrees. There will be breezy conditions, with a north wind between 21 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Additional snow accumulation of less than one-half inch is possible.
There's more precipitation forecast for tomorrow night -- some rain before 8 p.m., then a slight chance of snow until midnight. The temperature should fall to a low of about 33 degrees.
The storm is expected to clear out Saturday, which will be sunny, with a high temperature near 48, the NWS says. The west wind will register between 13 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
