Westport weather: Rain likely on tap
After a weekend of glorious late-summer weather, scattered showers are in today's forecast for southwestern Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service.
Skies will be cloudy most of today, with showers -- and possible thunderstorms -- after 2 p.m. The daytime temperature is expected to rise to a high of about 80 degrees, with a southwest wind 8 to 13 mph. The chance for daytime precipitation is 40 percent.
Tonight, odds of precipitation rise to about 60 percent, as the temperature dips to a low in the mid-60s with a west wind 3 to 5 mph.
Tomorrow, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and storms during the day. Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny as the temperature rise to a high in the mid-80s. Odds of precipitation rise slightly to 30 percent tomorrow night, as the temperature declines to a low of about 70 degrees.
On Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms are likely after noon, with the NWS rating the odds at 60 percent. Skies will be cloudy, with the temperature cresting in the low-80s. There remains a 50 percent nighttime chance of precipitation Wednesday night, with a low temperature in the mid-60s.
Thursday is expected to break the unsettled weather cycle, as skies turn mostly sunny and the temperature rises to a high of ab out 80 degrees. Nighttime will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the mid-60s.
The outlook for Friday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperature in the 80s.
