More stormy weather is on tap today and tomorrow for southwestern Connecticut.

The National Weather Services warns that showers and thunderstorms are likely after late morning today. Some of the storms could trigger heavy rains and strong winds. The daytime high temperature is expected to rise to the mid-70s.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are also likely, plus fog is expected to settle over some areas after 8 p.m. The overnight low temperature is expected to fall to about 63 degrees.

The NWS forecast for tomorrow is virtually a carbon copy of today's: storms possible throughout the day and night, with some accompanied by heavy rains, wind and lightning.

The cycle of unsettled weather may continue Saturday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise, the skies should be partly sunny, with a high near 77 degrees. There is also a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight.

Sunday, however, will be mostly sunny, with a high near 78 degrees, the weather service predicts.
