Westport weather: Holiday weekend gets better each day

A chilly, wet start to this Memorial Day weekend will only get better the closer we get to the actual holiday, according to the National Weather Service.
Most of today, howev er, will be a washout in southwestern Connecticut, with periodic showers, gray skies and breezy conditions. The daytime high temperature will rise only to about 50 degrees, with a northwest wind 11 to 16 mph, increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight, there remains a 40 percent chance of showers, with temperatures falling to a chilly low of about 40 degrees. There will be a northwest wind 14 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Tomorrow, while there is a slight chance of showers before 9 a.m., skies will become partly sunny, with a high temperature in the mid-60s. It will breezy again, with a northwest wind 18 to 23 mph. Chance of daytime precipitation is 20 percent. Nighttime should be mostly clear, with a low temperature in the low-40s.
On Monday, Memorial Day, skies are expected to be sunny, with the temperature rising to a high of about 70 degrees. Night skies will be clear, with a low temperature about 50 degrees.
The outlook for Tuesday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperatures in the 70s.
