Westport weather: 'Hazardous' storms may be on tap
Although skies this morning across southwestern Connecticut are sunny, clouds are expected to move in later with unsettled conditions that triggered a "hazardous weather outlook" from the National Weather Service.
There is at least a 50 percent chance of storms and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight, the NWS says, and some of the storms could produce heavy rain.
Today's high temperature is expected to reach about 80 degrees, with a west wind 6 to 11 mph becoming south. The low temperature is expected to dip to about 71 degrees tonight.
More showers and thunderstorms are likely Sunday, the NWS says, mainly before 3 p.m. Again, the NWS warns some storms could unleash heavy rain. Under cloudy skies, the high temperature is expected to be about 80 degrees.
Storms are also possible Sunday evening -- and the unsettled weather will carry over into the work week, the weather service predicts.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible both Monday and Tuesday, the NWS says, with the odds both days about 30 percent.
