Skies will be partly sunny on this next-to-last day of 2011 in southwestern Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service.

It will be warmer than yesterday, with a daytime high of about 50 degrees, the NWS says, and a south wind between 5 and 9 mph.

Overnight, there is a chance of showers under cloudy skies and a low temperature of about 40 degrees.

Showers remain possible tomorrow, New Year's Eve, mainly before noon. Morning cloudiness should clear later in the day as temperatures rise to about 50 degrees.

Revelers heading out for New Year's Eve celebrations will find clear conditions and the temperature falling to a low in the low-30s.

Sunday, New Year's Day, should be mostly sunny, with a high near 49 degrees. Overnight, however, there is a slight chance of showers and the low temperature will be in the upper-30s.

The outlook for Monday is for partly sunny and breezy conditions with temperatures in the mid-40s, the weather service predicts.
