Chabad of Westport will present a program on how parents -- especially mothers -- influence girls' body images and their eating behavior Thursday morning, Nov. 17.

The presentation by Eleanor Cronley, a licensed social worker and expert on eating disorders, is planned at 9:30 a.m. in J-Space, 20 Ketchum St.

The program is open to the public, but registration is required because seating is limited, Chabad said.

Studies have shown that having a good role model can help a daughter develop a positive self- image, Chabad said in a news release. Cronley will discuss how a woman's own body image can affect her body image, how a mother's comments and affect her daughter and how to better communicate with daughters about food,.

Cronley conducts family and group therapy workshops at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Chabad said.
