WESTPORT — Westport Public Schools’ Chief Financial Officer was honored this month by the Fairfield County Business Journal as a CFO of the Year.

Elio Longo, who as worked in Westport Public Schools since 2013, was honored at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Oct. 17.

“To be chosen as a Fairfield County CFO of the year is to be recognized as part of a distinguished group,” said Longo. He was among a group of CFOs selected from both the private and public sector in Southwestern Connecticut.

Longo began his career as a finance professional 20 years ago at Bristol Babcock in Waterbury.

He went on to work for stints as the director of economic development for the City of Waterbury, the director of finance for Danbury and as CFO for Norwalk Public Schools.

In his four years in Westport, Longo said he’s most proud of increasing communication around financial processes.

“What I’m most proud of is the transformation of the district to increase school finance transparency,” Longo said.
