WESTPORT — A 33-year-old Philadelphia man is accused of hacking into his former employer’s computer system, police said.

Yigitali Ercan, 33, was arrested Feb. 9 and charged with second-degree computer crime.

Police said Ercan “hacked” into his former employer’s computer system, “made some modifications to their website” and planted ransomware that left workers unable to access files.

Police did not release the name of the affected company.

Ercan was released after posting $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on March 1.
