Officers were called to Camp Mahackeno when a disturbance was reported about 4:30 p.m., police said. A dispute allegedly broke out when a camp staffer would not allow Gaspel to pick up his child because he was not on the authorized pick-up list, police said. Gaspel began shoving the staffer and grabbed him by the neck, police said.
While speaking with Gaspel, officers detected an odor of alcohol on his breath, according to the report, and he failed a field sobriety test. Breath test results for Gaspel were 0.133 and 0.129; 0.08 is the legal alcohol limit.
Gaspel posted $1,000 bond on the charges of breach of peace and driving under the influence, and faces a July 8 date in Norwalk Superior Court.
