WESTPORT — A town resident allegedly sideswiped a car on Burr Road but failed to stop Friday morning, leading to his arrest.
A witness flagged down a police officer at about 7:30 a.m. May 26 to report a Lexus had sideswiped a parked car on Burr Road as it passed, striking the driver’s side mirror but then continuing without stopping, according to police. An officer stopped a vehicle matching the description two hours later on Long Lots Road and its driver, Samuel Allen, admitted to the incident, police said.
Police arrested the 25-year-old resident of Post Road West and charged him with evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 9.
