WESTPORT — A Westport man was arrested after he allegedly caused a disturbance and harmed someone at a local restaurant and at their home.
On Valentine’s Day, Neil Bhatia, 41, met the victim at a local restaurant for dinner. Bhatia was loud and at one point struck the victim’s wrist, police said.
Upon returning to the victim’s residence, Bhatia allegedly entered the foyer and pushed the victim to the ground in violation of an active protective order. Also on Feb. 14, as well as the following day, Bhatia reportedly sent harassing text messages to the victim that contained foul language and derogatory statements, also in violation of the protective order.
Westport police issued a warrant for his arrest and on Feb. 16, Bhatia turned himself in. Bhatia was charged with criminal violation of a protective order, disorderly conduct and, because minors were present during the incident, risk of injury to child. He was released after posting $75,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Feb. 20 for arraignment.
