Westport man charged after dispute with cable installer
Leigh Rhett, 54, of 39 Imperial Ave., was arrested Friday after a dispute with a cable television installer, police said.
The installer told police that he was sent to a residence to activate cable television and, in doing so, had to access a utility pole located on an adjacent property, police said. He reportedly attempted to advise the homeowner what he was doing but did not receive an answer.
Police said the installer then put an extension ladder against the utility pole and climbed it to reach the cable equipment. Shortly after, Rhett reportedly left the house and demanded the installer leave his property. Rhett shook the ladder that the installer was on, threw a rock at his back and then left, according to the installer. Rhett reportedly returned later and told police that he was trying to get the installer's attention to move his truck because he thought he could not get out of his driveway.
Rhett was charged with breach of peace and released on a written promise to appear Aug. 15 in Norwalk Superior Court.
