Westport firefighters respond to pool equipment fire

WESTPORT — Firefighters were dispatched Saturday around 10:40 a.m. to a report of an outside fire involving the pool heater.

The incident occurred at a residence on Ludlow Road, according to a news release.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the heater and filtration system and extinguished it. Other companies arrived and checked for extension, secured utilities and performed overhaul, according to the release.

The actions of the first arriving companies limited the fire damage to the pool equipment and did not extend to the house.

The Westport Fire Marshal’s office was on scene to investigate the cause of the fire and the last unit was cleared at 11:55 a.m.
