WESTPORT — None were injured in a residential fire on the Saugatuck Shores late Friday night, fire officials said.

The Westport Fire Department responded to reports of a home fire on Island Way around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Multiple firefighting units were deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire, which had become visible near the home’s roofline by the time they arrived. Though the exterior fire was quickly extinguished, more units were assigned to gain access to the home’s interior to see if the fire had spread.

Crews extinguished what remained of the fire in approximately an hour, and successfully ventilated the home of elevated carbon monoxide levels. The residence was then turned back over to the homeowners.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Westport Fire Marshal’s Office.
