The Westport Weston Family Y has been selected by the American Cancer Society as an enrollment site for volunteers interested in participating in a major cancer prevention study.

Known as the Cancer Prevention Study-3, the long-term research project is the nation's largest study of the causes of cancers. Those eligible to participate include anyone who is between 30 and 65 years old; has never been diagnosed with cancer (not including basal or squamous cell skin cancer); and is willing to make a long-term commitment to the study, which involves completing periodic follow-up surveys at home.

The study begins with an appointment at the Westport Weston Family Y on Tuesday, Nov. 19, between 8 a. m. and noon. Participants will be asked to read and sign an informed consent form, complete a brief written survey, have their waist measured, and give a small blood sample drawn by a trained, certified phlebotomist.

To enroll, visit cancer.org/cps3NE, or call 888-604-5888. The Family Y is at 59 Post Road East in downtown Westport.
