Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce appoints new leaders
The Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce recently appointed a new executive director and a new chairwoman.
Gray was previously with Child Advocates of Connecticut, a non-profit organization representing children in the foster care system. She served as the court-appointed Guardian ad litem advocate on behalf of children in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
"My goal is to make the chamber truly essential to our businesses, to our community and visitors alike," Gray said in a statement. "Chamber membership means that your business supports the development of the local community, which in turn, helps the local community support local business. We all benefit when the business community is strong and when we create opportunities to both support and partner with local non-profits that serve our community and enrich all of our lives."
Gray is involved in several fundraising endeavors, including those benefiting her children's pre-school and Saugatuck Elementary and Bedford Middle schools, according to a chamber news release. She serves on the Westport Y's Water Rat Board, the Westport PAL Girl's Lacrosse Board and was an active coach and board member with Westport Little League Softball commissioners.
A graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., Gray holds a bachelor of arts degree in social communications, where she used these skills as an account executive for several cosmetic companies including Elizabeth Arden and Clinique.
Jennifer Bond Huisking, a chamber board member since 2008 who lives in Fairfield, will assume the role of board chairwoman, replacing Paul Gehr. She has previously served the board as Ambassador and on the Events Committee as well as vice chairwoman from 2010 to 2011.
"I am committed to my service as chair to support Ms. Gray as we work to provide opportunities for businesses, large and small, to come together and share one another's needs and solutions for the betterment of our business community as a whole," she said in a statement.
Huisking is the director of business development for Catamount Wealth Management and is responsible for account management, identifying business opportunities and establishing new relationships for the firm. Prior to joining Catamount, she was the community relations liaison for Westport Country Playhouse, where she specialized in audience cultivation and development as well as increased brand awareness and community exposure.
She holds a bachelor of arts degree in liberal arts from Iowa State University and serves on the board of Music Theater of Connecticut. She also participates on the marketing committee with the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County and was named one of "Fairfield County's 40Under40" in 2011.
