The Westport Sunrise Rotary Club has a friend in the Bridgeport Sound Tigers AHL hockey team, which has committed to supporting Rotary's "End Polio Now" campaign.

A special "End Polio Now" event is scheduled on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. in a home game (The Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport) against Worcester.

Well before that game, however, Shane Beardsley, the Sound Tigers' director of community relations/group sales, will be the featured guest at the Westport Sunrise Rotary Club's breakfast meeting this morning, which will take place at Bobby Q's Restaurant, 42 Main St., Westport, starting at 7:30 a.m. Guests are welcome. The $12 fee includes a breakfast buffet. Beardsley will discuss the Soung Tigers' 10th anniversary, life as a NY Islanders affiliate and the team's support of worthy causes.

In the special January game against Worcester, center ice tickets, normally priced at $31, will be available for only $20, with 35 percent of all ticket sales donated to Rotary's campaign to eradicate polio. Tickets can be purchased from any Rotary member, at Rotary meetings, and at Fairfield County Bank's two Westport locations, 20 Compo Road S. and 180 Post Road E.

In addition, the same discounted ticket pricing ($20 for a $31 center ice seat) will be available for online purchases to any Sound Tigers home game this season.
