The Westport Rotary Club will host a talk by Gary L. Rose on the "History, Politics and Maverick Tradition of Connecticut's Fourth Congressional District" at noon Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Inn at Longshore, 260 Compo Road South.

Rose, professor and chairman of Sacred Heart University's Department of Government and Politics, will discuss his new book "Connecticut's Fourth Congressional District: History Politics and the Maverick Tradition," a case study of Connecticut's fourth congressional district from World War II to today.

Rose, a full-time university professor for 32 years, is a frequent commentator for national, state and local media and is the recipient of several teaching and scholarship awards, according to a rotary news release. In 2011, he was named the Connecticut Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation. His interests include the American presidency, Connecticut politics, political parties and constitutional law, and he has published 10 books on these subjects.

The public is welcome. There is a $20 fee, which includes lunch.
